About this Position

The Engineering Operations team at Riverbed is a talented team of developers who work with other operational teams to meet the needs of the Engineering organization.  Our team has a high standard for repeatability, reliability, and robustness in the tools and services that we deploy and maintain. Our objective is to streamline engineering’s operational practices and drive continuous improvements in quality, reliability and efficiency. You’ll be working with collaborative, motivated, professional engineers who are intent on getting the right result, utilizing cutting-edge methodologies to create new tools and enhance existing ones in order to improve developer productivity. We are looking for passionate, out of the box thinkers who wants to take pride in building, releasing, and supporting cloud and on premise applications and appliances.

 

Your responsibilities

  • Build automation using python, shell scripting, and various service APIs to automate and support engineering teams to build, test, release and support software.
  • Use your strong python or any scripting skills to build an automation platform to seamlessly deploy the SteelConnect hosted service to our growing customer base.
  • Be on high alert to monitor services which enables our engineering teams to work efficiently and accurately.
  • Have to be part of the rotational model to monitor the fleet, respond to alert and resolve issues sooner to meet our uptime SLA.
  • We need you to drive and determine the metrics that needs to be monitored to proactively find issues across our services that impact developer workflows.
  • Work closely with engineering in the design phase to make sure you can plan the build and deployment model for services. Negotiate with the teams to make coarse correction to build and deploy at scale.
  • From the design phase of the product work closely with engineering to make sure the product follows a secure deployment model.
  • Follow the change management and best practices to continually update engineering infrastructure while maintaining uptime and operability.
  • Understand all the services provided by AWS and continuously reduce the cost of the service.
  • Will be hands on building and deploying dockers.
  • A willingness and desire to learn new technologies

Your Qualification

  • 5 + years in the dev ops space or managing a SaaS/hosted service
  • Bachelor’s degree in computers.
  • Hands on python or other scripting experience to transform a manual hand crafted work to end to end automation.
  • Capable using GIT version control and writing hooks
  • Exposure in pipeline building and played a key role in continuous integration/Deployment using Jenkins, Bamboo, or other continuous integration tool
  • Have managed/deployed fleet with any of the leading configuration management tools like Ansible, chef etc.
  • Experience with RPM and Debian package managers and tooling
  • Strong Linux skills and have hands on experience to troubleshoot issues
  • Hands on docker or OpenStack experience in previous roles
  • Worked closely with the development team in designing the product for deploying a service at scale.
  • Managed 200 + servers on a day to day basis using automation.
  • Monitored a saas or infrastructure environment and was part of the monitoring building platform.
  • Experienced in AWS and Azure environments.
