About this Position

The Engineering Operations team at Riverbed is a talented team of developers who work with other operational teams to meet the needs of the Engineering organization.  Our team has a high standard for repeatability, reliability, and robustness in the tools and services that we deploy and maintain. Our objective is to streamline engineering’s operational practices and drive continuous improvements in quality, reliability and efficiency. You’ll be working with collaborative, motivated, professional engineers who are intent on getting the right result, utilizing cutting-edge methodologies to create new tools and enhance existing ones in order to improve developer productivity. We are looking for passionate, out of the box thinkers who wants to take pride in building, releasing, and supporting cloud and on premise applications and appliances.


Your responsibilities

  • Be an integral part of a dynamic team
  • Build automation using Python, shell scripting, and various service APIs to automate and support engineering teams to build, test, release and support software
  • Use your strong scripting skills to build and continuously improve our automation
  • Add instrumentation and monitoring to processes critical for developer workflow
  • Work closely with engineering in the design phase to make sure you can plan the build and deployment model for services. Negotiate with the teams to make coarse correction to build and deploy at scale.
  • Work closely with engineering to make sure the product follows a secure deployment model from the design phase of the product to .
  • Follow the change management and best practices to continually update engineering infrastructure while maintaining uptime and operability.
  • Learn new technologies and integrate them into our process

Your Qualification

  • Successful contributing member to a technical team
  • Advanced Linux skills
  • Experienced in troubleshooting Linux server issues
  • Seasoned in Python and bash
  • Additional languages are a plus
  • Comfortable using GIT version control in a collaborative environment
  • Degree in computer related field or equivalent experience and or training
  • Experience with at least a few of the following:
    • Dev-ops/SRE role
    • Software defined networking
    • Built or maintained continuous integration/deployment system using Jenkins, Bamboo, or other continuous integration tool
    • Managed/deployed fleet with configuration management tools like Ansible, Salt, Puppet etc.
    • RPM and Debian package (managers and tooling)/management
    • Docker containers, preferably with Compose, Swarm, or Kubernetes
    • Worked closely with a development team in designing the product for deploying a service at scale.
    • Managed a large scale environment on a day to day basis using automation.
    • Built a monitoring platform (using Datadog, nagios or other industry-standard tools) for a large scale environment.
    • AWS, OpenStack, and Azure environments and best practices.
