About this Position

Title: Director, Global Compensation

Location: San Francisco, CA


We are seeking a Director of Global Compensation to join the Human Resources team based in San Francisco, CA. This position reports into the SVP of HR and will be responsible for designing and managing a total compensation portfolio that helps us attract, motivate and retain a highly skilled workforce.



  • Provide leadership and direction around participation in market data initiatives and preparing global competitive benchmarking analysis.
  • Monitors effectiveness of existing compensation policies, guidelines and procedures and provides compensation trend analysis.
  • Maintain and communicate methodology for job profiles, pay decisions, job evaluations and leveling in partnership with recruiting, HRBP and hiring managers.
  • Responsible for the corporate and sales focal review process.
  • Manage the internal equity grant process for new hires, promotions etc. for compensation committee approval.
  • Advises on global compensation related matters, partnering with HRBP’s, FP&A, Sales Finance etc.
  • Conducts annual assessment of market compensation to ensure Riverbed remains competitive.
  • Develops techniques for compiling, preparing and presenting data.
  • Leads any compensation related projects, in partnership with HRBPs.



  • BS or BA with a minimum 10 years of progressive levels of responsibility in Compensation roles in a high growth environment.
  • Excellent judgement and analytical skills.
  • Excellent project management and time management skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with detailed, focused execution.
  • Possess the professional skills to establish trust and rapport at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong consultative/client service skills.
  • High degree of attention to detail/strong excel experience.
  • Global experience is required.
