    About this Position

    Title:  System Administrator

    Location: San Francisco, CA (preferred) or US (remote/home office)

     

    The Riverbed SteelCentral Global Center of Excellence (CoE) is seeking a System Administrator to manage and maintain the environment used by Technical Staff to demonstrate our industry leading line of IT performance management products.  The incumbent will work under the direction of the environments lead architect, and with assistance from other members of the SteelCentral CoE but will perform their job functions mostly independently.  Applicants must be strongly self-motivated and self-reliant.  Since the environment supports a global work force, some scheduling flexibility is required to support maintenance activities.  Scheduling flexibility is generally allowed, but ability to meet with other team members during their regular working hours is required.  This position will require some travel, <10%.  This is a work from home position but requires a fast broadband connection.

      

    Responsibilities:

    • Maintain highly available instances of the complete line of SteelCentral products.
    • Maintain load generation systems.
    • Process access request for new employees and partners.
    • Respond to Level 1 tickets, including "How do I's".
    • Keep a heterogeneous environment, including Windows, Ubuntu, ESX, RiOS, and Appliances up to date with current patches.
    • Maintain SAN and Network environments.
    • Maintain systems in the cloud.

    Qualifications:

    • Highly self-motivated, able to work independently.
    • Understanding a broad spectrum of IT technology, including knowledge of networking, systems administration, telephony, and virtualization.
    • Excellent written communication skills.
    • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
