    About this Position


    Title:  Software Engineer — SteelFusion Storage Systems and Availability


    Location:  Sunnyvale, CA



    As part of the SteelFusion development team, you will develop new features and improve existing features primarily concentrating on the Ctrl, Systems and Availability aspects of the product both on-prem and cloud solutions. SteelFusion is growing rapidly and there is a lot of work to be done!

    • Design, develop and test new features and improvements to existing features in Disaster Recovery, High-Availability and Backup on SteelFusion
    • Write unit tests to cover new functionality
    • Identify improvement areas, and architect elegant, optimal solutions
    • Communicate clearly with peers and management about ideas, designs, and implementation details
    • Work closely with fellow engineers to arrive at consensus-based approaches to problems
    • Work with QA to explain new features and assist in test-plan development
    • Work with Support on the rare occasion that a customer issue or bug requires Engineering assistance



    • Education: BS or better in Computer Science or closely-related field, or equivalent experience
    • Strong communication skills
    • Ability to self-manage, be proactive about identifying what needs to be done, and do it
    • Strong C or C++ programming and skills (OOP, RAII, C++11 and C++14)
    • Strong debugging skills
    • Adequate knowledge of Python and other scripting languages
    • Comfortable developing in a Linux environment (git, command-line tools and editors, etc.)
    • Familiar with event-driven or asynchronous programming models
    • Strong experience/knowledge of in some or all of the following areas
    • Storage Solutions, Clustering, High Availability, Snapshot and Replication


    Additional Ideal Qualifications:

    • Strong high-level (architectural) and low-level design skills
    • Relevant experience in building cloud software and various cloud technologies and vendors e.g. Azure and AWS
    • Deep understanding of testability, transparency and robustness concerns
    • Familiarity with Linux build tools, such as autoconf/automake, GNU make, and shell scripting
    • Familiarity with virtualization e.g. Hyper-V and ESXi
    • Experience in building REST based services is a plus
    • Familiarity with Linux compilers/toolchains (e.g. gcc, clang)
